"Andreas knows that impossible things just take longer to make happen."
Andreas Dagelet is living proof of the adage you can’t keep a good man down! This New Zealand born, Australian naturalised, human dynamo has packed much into his 4 decades. A former Pilot Officer in the Air Force, this adventurer has worked at everything from Night Club worker, to Bank Officer, Speaker, Architect and Travel Agent. He has also travelled to 49 countries over 5 continents, skydived, scuba dived and flown aerobatic aircraft. The most amazing thing about Andreas is that most of these achievements have been accomplished on his wheelchair! After breaking his back in 1995 in an act of self-confessed foolishness involving a large tree and the force of gravity, Andreas took on the challenge of a major physical disability with the same vigour he gave to all his earlier ventures.

In 2005 his home was on tiny Coochiemudlo Island in Moreton Bay which he left to embark on the greatest challenge of his life.
That April he began to ride a custom built hand driven cycle on a 16,000 km (Guiness Book of Records endorsed) ride around Australia. Exactly one year later he returned to his island triumphant having completed the first solo circumnavigation of Australia by hand. Andreas had many reasons for the odyssey; Including adventure, the opportunity to inspire others, to see Australia in a unique manner and raise money for childrens charities.
He also visited over 50 schools along the way to show his incredible machine to kids of all ages and talk about what is possible if you dare to dream. He subscribes to the proven theory there are only three ways to teach somebody: The first way is by example, the second is by example and the third …is by example. Andreas is an inspiration to all those he meets and will continue to spread his message across an entire continent in his quest to live his life to the full.
